Vancouver

While visiting Vancouver, British Columbia, for a professional conference in 2001, a colleague and I toured a Chinese cultural center and garden. On another evening, while I was walking in the downtown area of the conference site, I was struck by the light and its reflections off of modern, glass buildings. Over the years since, these two experiences became related in my memory. This gallery of images juxtaposes the details from traditional forms cultivated in the east asian culture with the more modern, more western-dominated architectural expressions that make up Vancouver's wonderful center.
